I want to like this beer. It’s a cool label design, hand-drawn and full of Portland funk. The bottle itself is re-usable, too, a flip-top (Grolsch style) that claims it saves “as much energy as it takes to power a 60 watt bulb for a week.” That’s good, because the bottle is a dollar-deposit. I like those ideas a lot, though. But I do not like this beer. More time on contents, less on packaging, please.

I stood in front of this beer and their IPA yesterday at Belmont Station, totally beguiled by the bottles. Yet on the irregular occasions I’ve had CBP beer, I’ve found it wanting. There’s really no excuse for off-flavors in the beer world. So I did a quickie check on BeerAdvocate and, sure enough, bad reviews. I passed–wisely, it appears.

How are you going to keep track of beers when you’re in the hundreds? are you doing a spreadsheet?

  3. Dave says:

This site is the spreadsheet! I also have a decent memory for beers I’ve tried and not.
