RateBeer.com just released their “Best Beers 2010” list. As someone observed, the beers included are more like “the best beers according to beer geeks” than a reflection of what is truly the best-made beer. Those beers whose titles include “double,” “imperial,” or tend to be of limited distribution tend to do better in this type of list, because those are the types of beers beer geeks salivate over. As this beer geek reviewed the list (I’ve had around half of the list), I remembered I had a bottle of No. 6 on the list buried in the basement. I won the bottle in a raffle at FredFest 2007, and I think the bottle had some age on it when I got it. The only date on the bottle was “2002,” regarding an award the beer had won, so I just guessed that’s what the manufacturing date was. Your alternate suggestions are welcome. My suggestion would be that you try this beer – a very interesting experience.
