We went to Maine in the summer when I was a kid. Not every summer. We didn’t summer in Maine. I loved eating clam chowder at the Two Lights Lobster Shack. As I got older, I’d sometimes get a lobster dinner, and pretend I knew how to eat it. I visited my sister in Boston a few times, and got to revisit the past, even dining at the same restaurant a few times. Tonight I’m eating chowder again, this time some homemade stuff from a recipe I got from the Union Oyster House in Boston. This beer seemed an appropriate pairing, although I didn’t drink much Porter in those days. Still, the thick, sweet beer nicely complemented the thick, creamy chowder, cutting through the clam flavor with toasted chocolate.
