Now, that is a picture of summer in Oregon. Please allow me to break it down for you.
- Fresh cherries, two kinds: Bing and Rainier, both from the farmer’s market, and probably the best cherries money can buy.
- BLT. Normally at this time of year the B, L, and T would all be local to our backyard nanofarm, but today only the lettuce (and basil) are farm-fresh. We’ve had a slow summer, and tomatoes are now on the vine, but still quite green. And I have a pork belly in the freezer, but I haven’t baconized it yet.
- Pelican Cream Ale. Think of a delicious, hoppy pilsner, with the creamy body of Boddington’s Ale, and the sweetness of … well, vanilla cake.
Quite a trio.
