You know how they make this stuff, right? It’s continuously hopped for 90 minutes? Hence the name?
Once the old brew kettle is boiling, the wacky brewers at Dogfish Head load up an “electric football” game (the one that vibrates “player” gamepieces towards cardboard end zones) with enough hop pellets to last the boil. “Set it, and forget it,” in Ron Popeil parlance.
I didn’t know that the 90-minute version was the original. I guess I just assumed they started with 60-minute, and worked on up to the 90- and then to the 120-minute (review coming soon!). But why listen to me re-tell the story, when you could watch Sam Calagione do it?

I read where they got away from the football game and upgraded to a screw conveyor. I think increases in production required an upgrade to their initial approach.

An artfully crafted masterpiece, caramel maltiness balanced by citrus hop notes that surround your palate. Easy to believe it is quite possibly American’s best IPA.http://alemakers.com/news.php
