If you’re wondering about the flurry of reviews, here’s the skinny: I’ve gotten way behind in posting reviews, and I’m trying to get caught back up. I’m still trying a new beer every day (haven’t missed a day since January 1!), but I haven’t been the best at blogging about them in a timely manner. Thankfully, the 33 Beers notebooks are performing as advertised, helping me recall the beers later!

As for the self-righteous connection? I’m coming around a bit on this whole Cascadian Dark Ale thing. I think I’ve figured out what I don’t like, and I’m coming around to what I do. I hate the citrus/roast malt combination, finding it, as Jeff so deftly put it, like “orange juice and toothpaste.” But the bitter/roasty thing does work, as it does in this beer.* More sampling is clearly called for.

Sublimely Self-Righteous Ale Beer Review

Beer Name: Sublimely Self-Righteous Ale
Brewer: Stone Brewing
Price: N/A
Sampled: June 14, 2010
Rating: 4/5
Notes: This is what a CDA should be. Strong, dark and hoppy, but not citrus hoppy. Just … some bitter bite and booze. Roasty chocolate – cocoa nibs.
ABV: N/A
IBU: N/A
OG N/A
TG N/A
Serving Type: Bottle.

* Stone is far too high and mighty to put a label like “CDA” or even “Black IPA,” on the bottle, but I think this fits the style.
