I wonder sometimes what it must have felt like to be the guy who tried snails for this first time. I imagine that, seeing the “guy who discovered oysters”‘ success, he thought he’d win the heart of his cave-beau by making a similar gustatory discovery inside what looked a lot like a slowly moving rock. Alas, it would be thousands of years until garlic butter was discovered, and his elation and finding foodstuff inside rock-like-stuff would be severely tempered by its distinctly unpleasant, earthy taste.
In the metaphor above, “the guy who tried snails” is Wisconsin.
“The guy who tried oysters” is a stand-in for the Pacific Northwest.
The oyster is a Northwest pale ale, hoppy and crisp.
The snail is Cascade Pale Ale from Point Brewing.
Discuss.

Just out of curiosity, how come the beer has an N/A for price and an N/A for abv? Surely both of those stats exist even though the beer was underwhelming?
Anyway thank you for the warning away from this beer, I will probably not try it now. Keep the reviews coming, 999 here we come!

Royce, good questions. The price info I just failed to write down at the grocery store. My guess is that it was less than $2 (bought a single bottle).
The abv wasn’t included on the bottle, and that’s my personal rule: I only include info that’s on the label. I think omitting ABV is borderline criminal (see my Tricerahops review), and omitting the others is just … lazy. I’m trying to call attention to those stats’ omission in a really passive-aggressive way, apparently. ;)
