The website says the goal behind this beer was to create “… a beer with the flavor of an ale and the smoothness of a lager.” It worked, I have to say. This is no “standard cheap American industrial lager,” but a truly different kind of beer. It is smooth, and it is an ale. The website doesn’t lie!
Like its distant relatives, it is fairly low in the flavor department, but the unique mouthfeel and fresh cream-like sweetness make this beer unlike any I’ve ever tried. Which is why I smuggled it 2,000 miles, risking swilly, broken glass-infused trousers to review it all the way across the country, in Oregon, far from its New York home.
